Launch of the TYPO3 website for Hessen MICE Net
Find conference venues online with ease
With Hessen MICE Net (MICE = Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, Events), the Hessen Tourism department of HA Hessen Agentur GmbH has launched a new website where users can search for a wide variety of conference venues in Hessen and more: insider tips on all destinations are published in both long-form and short articles, serving as a social content hub for all network partners. Why? Because the website’s social walls allow all posts from network partners to be displayed in a targeted manner.
This makes the site an inspirational hub for event planners from agencies and companies. Venues can then be selected as required. Hessen MICE Net offers a strong network for MICE in Hesse, comprising leading conference centres, convention bureaux and city marketing organisations. At ten locations, proven event professionals do everything in their power to ensure that every event is a resounding success.
Our client, HA Hessen Agentur GmbH, is a service provider for the State of Hesse. They implement projects, campaigns and promotional activities.
Requirement:
The agency trio-group communication & marketing gmbh has developed a marketing and design concept for Hessen MICE Net to implement a comprehensive range of communication measures. To ensure that prospective clients can find the right venue for their event online, the entire range of services was to be presented in a consolidated form on the new website www.hessenmice.net. The adaptation of the concept and design for this purpose had already been carried out in consultation with dkd Internet Service GmbH.
The aim was to incorporate the sophisticated design for www.hessenmice.net as cost-effectively as possible into a separate site structure within the existing TYPO3 application for Hessen Tourism. In addition, synergies were to be created here by reusing existing content elements from HT or modifying them only slightly, thereby avoiding the need to reprogram all HMN elements. Adapting the design, which was often very complex in structure, was a challenge, particularly with regard to its responsive behaviour.
Solution:
The project was implemented within Hessen Tourismus existing TYPO3 version 8.7 installation. To this end, a new site map was created for www.hessenmice.net based on the information architecture provided. t3kit, which was already integrated into the project, was used as the basis for this. Otherwise, the project was implemented using HTML5 and CSS3. Bootstrap 3 is used as the CSS framework.
The required content elements were implemented in accordance with the design templates provided in Adobe XD. These included: headers with CTAs and informational text, sliders, full-width images with and without buttons, teaser elements, tiles with (Isotopes) and without filter options, forms, mosaic elements, a social wall and an interactive map of the conference network. This was carried out in close consultation with the client and trio-group communication & marketing gmbh.
Following handover for approval, an editor training session was conducted via web conference, enabling the client to manage content maintenance themselves.
The lion’s share of communication with the design agency during the project was handled directly by the developer. Communication with the client was managed by the project manager. Various coordination meetings were held with all parties involved (client, design agency, dkd) to ensure as early as possible that everyone was satisfied with the technical implementation.
