Requirement:

Based on the latest TYPO3 version at the time of the relaunch, the Frankfurt UAS website was to be redesigned in a future-proof responsive web design. The multilingual responsive relaunch was to follow the principles of mobile first, accessibility, partial relocation of the old website, contemporary and target group-oriented navigation (user-oriented, not institution-oriented) and modular implementation. The desire was to precisely define the rights and roles for editors, including LDAP integration for authentication, an "expert database," and the previous satellite website was to be replaced by a microsite. Furthermore, there was to be an extension for search engine optimisation and contact management.

Solution:

The new website is based on t3quick with TYPO3 version 8 LTS. First, the future structure for the website and intranet was developed in an IA workshop together with the responsible employees. The focus here was on presenting the content in a meaningful and structured way for the various target groups.

Based on the corporate design, the implementation followed the atomic design approach. In the IA workshop, the decision was made to use the hamburger menu, which should not differ between desktop and mobile in the future. This also allowed the accessibility requirement to be implemented effectively. Based on the tt_address extension, a versatile address database was created that allows users to search for specific people using various approaches. The Yoast extension allows search engine optimisation to be implemented quickly and easily, and links are easier for users to read and find via RealURL. Furthermore, the automated deployment »dkdeploy« developed by dkd was set up.
