TYPO3 website relaunch for ECOS Technology GmbH

Requirement:

The customer wanted to relaunch their website with TYPO3 10.4. Since the current website at the time could only be laid out using page templates, the customer requested the option to display their content in grids. The customer wanted to have a choice of various content elements (cards, accordions, etc.) and other design options (background colours/images, Font Awesome icons, etc.) for displaying the content. Existing functions, such as the search function, were also to be included on the new website. The customer wanted an automated solution for translating content. This was implemented using DeepL. In addition to web development, the customer commissioned us to optimise the website for SEO.

Solution:

A multilingual website was implemented for the customer ECOS Technology GmbH. The design was conceived and implemented by the developer. The website is responsive thanks to the use of Bootstrap 4.

The implementation was carried out in the latest TYPO3 version 10.4. The Bootstrap package was used as a kickstarter. Grid elements are used to output the content in the grid. In addition to the content elements that come with the Bootstrap package, several others were programmed in according to the customer's requirements. Solr in conjunction with Solr FAL was used for the internal search, which also enables files to be searched. Content is automatically translated using the "vw_deepl_translate" extension, which provides interfaces to Google and DeepL.

Communication with the customer mainly took place in weekly review meetings. Here, customisation requests or additional features required were discussed. Our customer often requested further advice on the design of additional features and various SEO issues, which we were happy to provide. Communication with the customer was largely handled by a developer with the support of a project manager for accounting issues. Editorial and SEO training was also provided at the customer's premises.

There was no design template provided by the customer for this project, so the design parameters were limited to the logo, colours and fonts. The design was therefore conceived by the developer and implemented directly in the programming. There were only a few customisation requests from the customer, so the design was quickly approved.
