TYPO3 website relaunch for Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei GmbH
The most beautiful way to fly
In January 2001, »Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei GmbH« was revived as the operating company for the Zeppelin NT. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of ZLT Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik GmbH & Co. KG, equivalent to a commercial airline. Today, the airline is the centre of expertise and service for all flight operations and the only globally recognised training centre for Zeppelin pilots.
Our to-do list
Development, design, support, hosting, e-commerce, training, content, consulting, responsive, mobile, multilingual, newsletters, conception, system architecture, usability, agile solutions
The existing website at zeppelin-nt.de is being relaunched with a "mobile first" approach. The open source CMS TYPO3 forms the technical basis for the new website and integrates the enhanced flight booking management system (CRS 2.0) and the existing ticket sales shop into the new website.
Challenge
Relaunch of the website with a new design and connection to CRS 2.0 (MVP) for booking and paying for flights. New development and restructuring of the shopping basket, checkout and payment, taking into account customer-specific requirements and covering borderline cases within a modern, reactive ordering process. Real-time interface communication between the TYPO3 (website) and Ruby on Rails (CRS 2.0) instances. Integration of the payment gateway of the service provider PayOne.
The technical concept with all requirements and borderline cases as the basis for the technical implementation of the ordering process was not yet available at the start of implementation and was developed agilely in the relaunch of dkd with the customer. Manual content migration from the previous CMS Contao. Screen designs were not available for all views and elements.
Solution
Use of the dkd standard package in version 10.4. Programming of all necessary components (templates, CE) in accordance with the screen design provided. Use of TYPO3 as middleware between front end and CRS. Design and implementation of a new ordering process based on Vue.js and integration of the payment gateway from provider PayOne.
The output of real-time data in the flight schedule on the website was implemented using Websocket.
